Steven Hector Gonzalez (he/him/his) is a Mexican-American media artist, performer, and educator.

Born and raised in the conservative south, Gonzalez’s work largely draws on an exploration of queer identity, Latinx histories, economies of desire, and the practice of love. In response to Gonzalez’s creative research, he generates degraded digital forms, intimate photographs, diaristic montages, and melancholically camp performances.

Steven holds an MFA degree in Studio Arts from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and graduated with a BFA in Video and Sound Art from the Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) in Portland, Oregon. His work has been exhibited nationally as well as internationally in group exhibitions such as April Meetings, Belgrade; Video! Video! Zine Video Festival, Chicago; Pure Surface, Portland; CARNALISMX COLLECTIVE, San Antonio, and Queer Me Now, Dallas.
